Mike Crough

President | Sales

Mike is the founder and President of Treescape and has 35 years of experience and knowledge to offer our customers. Mike graduated with honours from the Urban Arboriculture program at Humber College in Toronto. In 1997, he became a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and shortly after became an I.S.A certified Arborist. A thirst for knowledge propelled him to seek dual arborist certification through the government of Ontario Training and Adjustment Board (O.T.A.B.). Mike also served on the Ontario Provincial Advisory Committee that governs the Arborist Apprenticeship trade, as a representative of private industry. As a committee member, he helped modify and improve the skill sets required to become a provincially certified Arborist. Proud father of two teenage girls together with his wife Stacey, they enjoy the outdoors on their farm in Ennismore.


Sales | Senior Climber

Since 2019, Sean has been climbing for Treescape and continues to prove his incredible skills in tree pruning and difficult removals. He is a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming’s Arboriculture program. Sean excelled as Lead Grapple Saw Truck Operator and is now training others. In recognition of his exceptional talents and customer-centric approach, we are pleased to announce that Sean will be stepping into a sales role for our residential and commercial clients. You’ll see him in his red-wrapped Honda Fit!

Andrew Smit

Senior Consulting Arborist

ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (ON-1292BM), TRAQ


Andrew has over 20 years of experience in the field of Arboriculture and specializes in tree preservation and protection plans, tree risk assessment as well as tree and plant appraisals. He joined Treescape Certified Arborists (based in Peterborough, ON) in 2004 as a junior climber and currently holds the position of Senior Consulting Arborist. Andrew graduated with honours from the Arboriculture program at Sir Sandford Fleming School of Natural Resources in Lindsay, ON, and also studied Business Administration at the University of Waterloo. Andrew is a Board Certified Master ArboristMunicipal Specialist through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and a Registered Consulting Arborist with the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA). He has tree risk assessment qualifications through the ISA (TRAQ) as well as the UK based Quantified Tree Risk Assessment System (QTRA-4371). Andrew is a qualified tree and plant appraiser through ASCA, a certified Ontario Butternut Health Assessor (BHA 673), and is also a recognized Utility Arborist through the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.


Office Administrator

Denise has been a treasured member of Treescape since 2014. She is the friendly face you meet when you come through our doors. Denise enjoys assisting our clients and offers a thoughtful and well-rounded customer care experience. She is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and George Brown College for Graphic Design. She is active in the arts and volunteers annually at the Coldwater Steampunk Festival. Her family has made Peterborough their home and enjoys all the area has to offer.


Senior Climber

Stuart has been a valuable member of the Treescape team since 2017. He is a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming’s Arboriculture program, is a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) and is currently working to complete his Utility Arborist Apprenticeship. He is also recognized as an ISA Tree Risk Assessor, a Certified Butternut Health Assessor, has his Ontario Landscape Pesticide License and to top it off – is a Doctor of Medicine through the Medical University of Warsaw in Poland! Stuart is an exceptionally talented Arborist and demonstrates a very methodical approach to pruning and tree removal that our customers always appreciate.


Senior Groundsman

Brian is the first to work bright and early every day. He brings a wealth of knowledge and focus that is second to none. Brian’s hard work and proactive approach toward his responsibilities help him to consistently deliver exceptional results and exceed expectations. He has helped the company grow since 2018.



Jon grew up just around the corner from Treescape’s shop and we were proud to have him join our team in 2021. He has graduated from the Arboriculture program at Sir Sandford Fleming College and is working on attaining Arborist certification. Jon demonstrates his athleticism and inherent climbing talent every single day. New in 2023, he is taking the controls of our Grapple saw truck. He always brings good vibes to work and uplifts everyone around him.



Meet Matt, originally from the Muskoka’s, now local and a full-time member of Treescape in 2022. He started out as a lifeguard and CPR instructor. Then made the switch to working in the tree care industry in 2018. He recently graduated from the Arboriculture program at Sir Sandford Fleming College and is in persuit of Arborist certification. He has become a valued part of our team with his ambition to learn and sense of humor. You won’t forget his helmet!



In 2022, Andre joined our team and immediately left a lasting impression on all of us with his smooth climbing skills and his focus on teamwork. His love of the outdoors and the forest led him to pursue a career in this field, and he solidified that by committing to a Humber College Arboriculture diploma. We are very happy to have him as a part of our team.


Junior Climber

Matt recently achieved his Arboriculture diploma at Sir Sandford Fleming College. His dedication to his studies and his work experience has made him a well-rounded, essential team member. Matt has a strong work ethic and is focused on attaining Arborist certification in the near future.


Junior Climber

Dakota is a graduate of Sir Sandford Fleming’s Arboriculture program. He has shown a keen interest and aptitude for everything trees. He is currently in pursuit of Arborist certification. Since joining us in 2021, with his work ethic and practical skills he has become an important asset to the Treescape team.


Equipment Operator

Jordan is certified as a Heavy Equipment Operator through Sir Sandford Fleming College. He joined our team in 2020 and has since mastered the controls of all of our equipment. From bucket trucks and log trucks to stump grinders and skid steers – Jordan is the man. 2023 has brought out his smooth grapple saw truck skills. You’ll often find him in a cab wearing his easy smile.


Equipment Operator

Oleksandr started with Treescape a few days after the large wind storm of May 2022. As a new immigrant from Ukraine, he managed the language barrier, learned to navigate a new city and joined the hustle of the crew in the middle of storm clean up.  He is dedicated, hard working and skilled at maneuvering our large trucks. We hope he and his lovely family continue to make Peterborough their home away from home.


Junior Climber

Ethan started with our company as a high school co-op student and has remained part of the team. He is quickly learning about the intricacies involved in tree removal, care and maintenance. He is a consistently hard worker and very focused on the job site. We are excited to see him continue his education at Sir Sandford Fleming’s Arboriculture program this fall.



When things heat up, that’s when Ryland comes to the rescue. He has been our summer help since 2021. He has an unstoppable work ethic and a positive attitude making him a valuable member of our team.
