Hawthorn

Crataegus, commonly called hawthorn, quickthorn, thornapple, May-tree, whitethorn, or hawberry, is a genus of several hundred species of shrubs and trees in the family Rosaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Europe, Asia, North Africa, and North America. Considered a shrub or small tree, low crown and wide spreading, covered in smooth, rigid thorns. Great winter food supply for birds similar to a small apple called a haw (can be used for jams!).
